Manual Volkswagen Group intends to significantly reduce the range of components that are used in the construction of the same brand of cars, reports Bloomberg.
Responsible for finance group manager Hans-Dieter Petsh argues that especially noticeable savings will result in reduction of types of components for the Golf and Polo.
As an example Petsh led plans to shorten the list of varieties of lamps and batteries used in lighting cabin golf as well as a decrease in range of engines and transmissions for the next generation Polo by about 30%, which will significantly reduce the cost of production of the car.
Petsh also noted the success of the group in 2014 – despite the superiority of Toyota in the number of cars produced, Volkswagen was able to overcome the mark of 10 million vehicles assembled in the four years ahead of schedule.
